When your pastor encourages divorce by example, what?

I've been very blessed as today I celebrate 30 years of marriage to my wife Candy.

In my experience with Light of the World Church and it's pastor Joyce Leiphon, there exists a pastor who openly promotes divorce by example and actually preaches it from her pulpit! Of course she doesn't say the word divorce, but sometimes your actions speak louder than your words. I have heard her tell us that if your husband isn't listening to what I'm preaching, then....(stopped short of using the word divorce) stop listening to him!

When I arrived there 4 years ago I remember our meeting and how she went on to describe her 4 previous marriages. The last husband had attended REHMA Bible School. It didn't bother me as we serve a God of mercy and grace. What did bother me, was her last husband was co pastor and she said God told her to divorce him. He left the area, and she got the church! Scripture is pretty clear on grounds for divorce, but she told me she heard from God. Hey who am I to question the pastor?

Funny thing is, this was the second time God told her to divorce a husband. I have to admit, I'm no bible scholar but I thought God hates divorce. Why would God tell her to divorce two husbands? She said there was no infidelity or death involved but that God told her to divorce her husbands. Thank you Lord for your mercy and grace!

I started to look around and noticed, that out of the 15 regular devotees of the money cometh to me church, most were divorced, in the process of divorce, or been divorced. I was asked one day from someone, "How can someone who has divorced 4 times, heard from God to divorce 2 of them, , not interested in being married, belittles men and husbandry from the pulpit ever counsel anyone with marital problems?" I didn't have an answer. I have watched at least one divorce happen in this church with the pastor's blessing and encouragement.

Now I get emails and hand written letters from people who say she's actually been married 5 times! Thank you Jesus for your grace and mercy.

I'm thankful I've been married only once and for 30 years today. I'm also thankful to be out of a church that encourages divorce. When your pastor encourages divorce, what do you do? If it's not scriptural, RUN!

  3. Pastor Joyce is just being "who she is in Christ."

  4. In my opinion, she follows Leroy Thompson and the money cometh mantra rather than Jesus Christ.

  5. You are right on, Bill. Of course she follows Leroy Thompson and the Money Cometh mantra. If you are referring to the comment posted about her "just being who she is in Christ," that may have been misconstrued. I believe it was intended as a tongue-in-cheek, sarcastic remark, because there are simply TOO MANY PEOPLE IN THIS COMMUNITY who have seen an entirely different side of the pastor than her devotees. Yes, she has been married 5 times. It was # 4 and # 5 that God told her to divorce.

  6. Interesting.....wonder why she doesn't permanently assume her maiden name. Surely that would be a lot more convenient.

  7. It is stated on the LOTWC website that God has called Pastor Joyce to train people to live by the Word of God. Isn't it odd though, that God would call her to train others to live by His Word, yet tell her that she should divorce not one, but two husbands. Mmmmmmmmm....

    1. well according to my bible if she is truly called by God all she is to do is preach the Good news of what Jesus did on the cross for all men. then lead them to allow Jesus to live his life through them not them trying to live as Christ did. No she isn't the HOLY SPIRIT. NO one I mean no on can train another to live by the Word of GOD But the Word himself through the working of the Holy Spirit. Joyce would not know the voice of the LORD if he bit her on her ear.

  10. Please pray for this woman. Anyone who "hears from God" to divorce their husbands is obviously not well.

  11. Yup, she doesn't like men, but will try to take them for everything she can.

  12. Cult leader and false prophet David Koresch (remember him?) also "heard from God" to do different things.

  13. Dear Lord, if prospective husband # 6 comes along for this gal, please, please, please, let someone clue him in and tell him to run, because guaranteed, she will "hear from God" to divorce him as well.

  14. I recall her telling others that her many, many divorces didn't matter, simply because "God forgives." But why in the world would God tell a woman to divorce her husbands and then "forgive" her for obeying what he has told her to do. It's like the similar situation where she says that God has called her to teach others to live by his Word, yet He tells her to divorce her husbands. Obviously her stories ain't adding up.

  15. Since the good pastor loves money so much, she should actually marry and divorce a few more men, so she can get what she can out of them. She is already collecting half of her 4th husband's pension, who is a totally disabled amputee in a wheelchair.

  16. And in addition to collecting half of her 4th husband's pension, the one who is totally disabled in a wheelchair, she demanded spousal support from him on top of that (which thankfully she was not awarded) A tad greedy, would you say?

  17. Why or how can anyone follow a teaching that has nothing to do with Jesus and what he did at the cross? Are there that many greedy people willing to sell their soul to the devil. narrow is the gate to redemption and wide it is the way to damnation. I am praying for Joyce and her followers. they are on dangerous ground according to the WORD of God,. IF anyone of you know member of her church and if you are allowed to talk to the show them the scripture concerning the false doctrine shake them up make them mad if you have to so they will search the bible to find the truth for themselves. The Holy Spirit will enlighten your mind and open your eyes to this deception if you are one of his are you ask him.

  18. jfcecil, I applaud what you are saying. I never had a clue there were so many pastors out there who brainwash, for lack of a better term, their church members into believing that by giving to them, that they (the church members) will become rich, and if they don't give, then they are either worshiping the devil or that something bad will happen to them; for example, Joyce told others that they would lose their jobs, or get cancer, or something bad would happen to them. I say hats off to pro football player Tim Tebow for refusing to speak at one of the churches that teach this doctrine. And what I don't understand even more so is why so many people are actually gullible enough to believe this crap.

    1. I would be willing to say they believe this because they are as greedy as the Pastor or they truly do not know what Jesus did for them On the Cross over 2000 years ago. They are all living out of their flesh instead of allowing Jesus to live his life through them. Joyce has been taught better then to preach this garbage. She has been far out there for years. Greed is all I can say for the whole lot of them
